I hate greyhound bone cancer more than bees.

I still hate bees and bugs but I hate bone cancer even more. Il mio cuore del levriero e triste e rotto. My greyhound heart is sad and broken because my sister Luna Petunia was diagnosed with the dreaded greyhound ailment - osteosarcoma. We thought maybe her old racing injury was acting up since she had been playing all week with a bunch of other greys, the only good news on that is that she didn't end up with a spontaneous fracture. My new goal is to be a real nice brother and not bite her on the head. Just 2 months ago I gave her a real shiner and stitches but she is all healed up and pretty again. I am staying out of the doghouse and sleeping in the sun with Luna and Susie.

Ouch !

Ow, ow, ow !! Ask me where Polaris is, and I can point to it.
The infamous greyhound happy tail. This is what happens when us greyhounds get happy :-) Our little bony tails slap anything within distance and - whacko - broken tails. At least I didn't break the skin, I'm just patched up with tape for the next few weeks.
The weather is nice and cool in the mornings, Luna, Susie and I are hanging out in the field today with the cats. The butterfly weed is true to its name - full of bees and butterflies and several Swallowtail chrysalises.

Heat Index 102.5

Questo cane e troppo caldo per parole. This dog is too hot for words. Woof.

Blog neglect, it oughta be a crime I tell Ya. My wading pool is in the garden and of course it's been pouring cats and dogs - so really - what's the point ?? My bi-ped might take me to Canine Ranch to their big pool to see if I REALLY like to swim, or if I'm just a beach bum playboy. Luna only dangles her tootsies ankle deep, while I prefer shoulder deep with a periscope head. Susie hates to get her feet wet at all ! Lots of blooming wildflowers and teensy frogs, I have to be careful or it's squish-squash between the toes. Ciao-ciao.

Il cane perfetto gentiluomo

Ciao, hello. Have you ever seen such a cool sit, don't I look like, il cane perfetto gentiluomo, the perfect gentleman hound ?? My tush was a bit chilly but I am Cool Coty, after all. Miss Jen would be so proud ! This is my snow picture but yesterday was a perfect March day. We went for a stroll in downtown Woodstock (GA) for the St. Patty's Day parade and good Irish cheer. Susie, Luna and I met Susan LaB and Dewey, Kane and Mr. Deeds. Susie and Luna were pooped at the end of the day. We got lots of pets and kisses and a little girl said she loved me ! ;-)) I like little girls, kind of scary, but girls are very smart :) Life is just darned weird sometimes. The kitten was sitting on the kitchen counter watching me eat last week, she is kind of uncoordinated I must say, and just slid off right into my bowls! I had to high-tail it out of the room like a whirling dervish. I AM NOT EATING IN THERE ANYMORE -who wants a plop of kitten feet in their food ? Until I re-calibrate my greyhound brain I am eating in a different spot. Hunh ! Piu tardi. Later. CC.

Too Cool For Words

Troppo Cool per le parole. That's me - Cool Coty, too cool for words ! Sometimes a picture IS worth a thousand words. The chicks dig me. Except for our new kitten Margherita, she is
nell' amore, in luv with Susie. I am jealous, I'm the handsome Dood in this joint. Margherita slinks in and out between Susie's legs, rubs under her chin, and takes a flying leap on her neck when Susie leaves the room. My bi-ped says "Not to worry, it's a kitty with raging hormones thing and it will be fixed in due time". I don't get it, but I'm a greyhound...
We went to pet therapy last Sunday, but it's still scary for me. Miss Luna Petunia and Jessie were the Belles of the Ball. Ciao, ciao.

The Trouble With Tigers

Un levriero nella grande difficoltà. 15 punti nel nuovo tigrotto. One greyhound in big trouble. 15 stitches in the new baby tiger. Now I'm not saying I did, or I didn't, but the human in this joint thinks I might have. I'm on the watch list. The cute kitty, that I love to look at and want to smell, suddenly came up with two chunks out of her backside. Suspiciously look like bite marks, but the Vet thinks they may have been old wounds that finally festered up from abscesses. I'm being good 'cuz I just want a little sniff of her. So far, no luck on that. Luna, Susie and I are playing in the yard today, it is such nice Fall weather and we are zip-zapping. Happy Thanksgiving to all of y'all. Ringraziamento felice. Cool Coty.

Leoni e tigri ed orsi.

Leoni e tigri ed orsi. Abbiamo un leone dalle 4 libbre nella casa. Lions and tigers and bears. We have a 4 pound tiger in the house.

We found her on Halloween night. Teensy little bugger that Mom said we had to take home- I barked when we put in the car even though she didn't take up my space. I wasn't really protesting, I was just welcoming her. She's too-too cute. We've given her the Italian name of Margherita, which means Pearl ! She's almost learning it, when she's not busy zooming like a maniac. She could be quicker than me, but I THINK NOT. I love her already and want to smell her, but she bats my snoot.

Scary Dog Day that Turned Out Well

Giorno di cane spaventoso che è risultato bene. This morning I got caught with my Martindale collar on the cupboard door handle below the kitchen counter. I'm not supposed to stand in the kitchen by the stove top - I have learned the word "Hot", Caldo, and I'm very good at moving away when Mom says that to me. The loop of the collar snagged on the knob, and as I turned to back up, the cupboard door flew open, I jumped a mile, and all heck broke loose ! I was headed to Woodstock when my bi-ped managed to snatch me as I sped out of the kitchen at 45 mph ! To make up for it, Luna, Susie and I went to Lake Arrowhead to take a stroll around Festival Park. We had a swell time, making several loops around the park. It's so pretty up there. My Mom says it's like walking a deer I'm so TALL. We made a striking canine trio - 1 Biker Booted Dood, and 2 girlie-girls ! Too much fun! Cool, calm and collected, Coty. Ciao-ciao,

Greyhound Camo

La principessa bianca diabolica - in camuffamento. Who's the JD now ??? The Evil White Princess - in camouflage.

In Between the Rain

JD Coty reporting in.
Luna and I stayed with Kate & the Gang last week when my Mom went to her Mom's 95th b/d party in California. WOW - that's pretty darned old, I must say !! It rained the day Mom left and hasn't stopped since ! Kate called me her "Sweetest Boy" - I fooled her !! What a great actor I am. These are pictures of me lounging in 10 inches of pure rainwater and also me and Luna Petunia racing like the wind between the bouts of rain.

Grey Scrawny Neck in Jeopardy of Being Wrung

JD Coty reporting in that I am again in the proverbial dog house. Mom went downstairs this morning to find two piles of cat litter OUTSIDE the litter box. I am wondering myself who might have done that, she seems to think it was ME !?! Her exact words were - "if I find the beast who did this I'm going to wring his scrawny neck". I was right behind her, I heard it with my very own ears. If you see Breaking News of any Greys in trouble be sure to tell the authorities of my innocence. It might clear me in dog court.

Those Pearly Whites - It Ain't Chewing Tobaky

PeeeeYuuuuu - Potty Mouth Coty. Cool Coty was not chewing tobacco out behind the barn tonight. No siree... chewing cat poop is my new vice. My bi-ped had, not 5 minutes before, been admiring my pearly whites, exclaiming how nice and healthy they looked. Hah ! I showed her what juvenile delinquent JD Coty is all about. We were getting ready for our walk and I was so excited that I dashed downstairs, grabbed a bite of cat poop out of the litter box - yes, you read that right - cat poop, and chewed it right up ! Then made a mad dash back upstairs catch the walk. BUSTED ! Bending down to hook me up - my dragon breath gave me away. Gag ! The cat was out of the bag. Freshly chewed cat poo. Phew-weeee. One look into my crocodile sized jaws and the brown glob on my molar was a dead give-away :--( Talk about potty mouth !!!!!!!!!!! Heee-Heeeeeeee. We did some serious tooth brushing and my pearly whites are clean again. Luna and Susie think I'm a disgusting meathead. Chicks. JD Coty signing off.

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie

It's not safe to take a nap in this household. Being white - Luna is just asking to be 'touched-up' with Kool-Aid ;--) Although I resemble a Florida Cricket frog with my caramel and black markings, my bi-ped thinks I can be easily be turned into an Eastern Box Turtle with a little yellow Kool-Aid. Halloween should be a blast !!

Running With The Bulls

Quegli sciocchi pazzeschi mi non hanno niente. "Those Crazy Fools (who run with the bulls) have nothing on me". This wading pool thing is so Coty Cool, that my bi-ped pack leader thinks I am a complete nut case. We just did 3 rounds of Run With The Bulls. This is how it works - I - Cool Coty - make a mad dash into my wading pool - splash, splash, whack and jump until it waves. My pack leader calls me out to dry off, but today because she had a red beach towel, I turned into a Raging Greyt-Bull. I ran at her like the devil was after me, she waved the towel and I zipped past at 45 mph. After a few runs at the cape, I ran back to the pool, cannon balled in, and then ... 'got the call' Toro Toro Toro !!!! I was out in a flash and high-tailing it down to the bottom of the dog field headed for that red waving towel. I zipped, I zapped, I zigged and I zagged. It was waaaaay Coty Cool. And we did the whole thing over and over again. Who knew ??? Susie and Luna think I am the coolest Dude on the block. It's true. I AM COOL COTY.

La Bella Luna ha denti puliti. Luna Petunia had her choppers cleaned today. She didn't quite look like Austin Powers,"Yea Baby", and not quite as bad as Van L.B. described "Greys teeth look like they've been smoking for 20 years" but our bi-ped Mom thought we'd clean them again just for prevention. Do you see her resting with Miki the Cat? I've been trying out my new Bad Boy Biker boots and we found a really neat dead bug on our last outing. It was a race to see who could manage to roll their head on it first. Susie is the shortest and sneaks under both our tummies so I think she was the winner. Lots of baby frogs outside and we have a tuber rose that you can smell halfway up the driveway. Exotic. Perfume was invented because of flowers like tuber roses and peonies. That's a Cool Coty opinion. Ciao, ciao.

Duuuuudes - look at my new blue suede shoes ;--) Well..maybe not suede, but very cool just the same. My back pinkies, or lack of, are still pretty tender for long walks, so Mom got me black Biker boots (Thera-Paw boots) after reading about them on the message board, now I don't have to go home halfway through our walks. To show my deep appreciation, I wee-wee'd on her tomato plant, much to her disgust. She said, "that was a lame thing to do, typical Bad Boy behavior" That's me Cool Coty, Biker Bad Boy. Roooooo Roooooo !

Call me Mark Spitz'n'Grey. This swimming thing is very Cool Coty. I turn into quite the silly greyt dog in my new wading pool. As one who is still figuring out what scary things abound, I jumped right in and started paddling like tadpole. I look like a leopard frog. Splashing, and biting the waves and generally having fun, fun, fun. Luna got in also, but I splashed her right out. Some day I might try a real lake or pool. I chased Susie and Luna around the yard after my swim. It's very exhausting to splash in circles and dog paddle in 6 inches of water.

Hot ! Hot ! Hot ! Too hot for even the obnoxious squirrels. 92 degrees, 54 % humidity and heat index 98 degrees and counting. Four baby Phoebe birds fledged this morning. Jumped right out of their nest at the top corner of the porch, just like mini-paratroopers, and flap-flap, out into the blue sky and forest trees. No looking back, all made it without falling into the huge hydrangea bushes below. We can hear them peeping in the leaves. No greythound news this weekend, it's major nap time in this heat.

Dog Stinkhorns - Strange garden tails

Look at what we found growing under a rhododendron. Mushrooms ? A miniature elephant trunk ? Sea creatures on land ? UPDATE: RR from Georgia BotSocs (Botanical Society) identified this for my mom: Dog Stinkhorn !!!!!!! Hah-ha-ha-haa-hee-hee-hee. Isn't that a typical garden find for a dog ???? Usually WE are the ones making the stinkies. Hee-hee-hee.....So much for the drought this year, it doesn't seem like it will ever stop raining. Not that I am Coty complaining. I love the rain, it makes my pasture grass long and soft for napping. Luna and I played real hard in the pasture this morning, Susie and Marty, the Cat, had to stand aside as 140 lbs. of racing greyhounds zoomed by, and by, and by. I was chasing the ball and Luna was chasing me.
